Distillery and brewery marketing

Distillery marketing from people who actually know bourbon.

Most agencies learn your industry from a brief. We have lived in it. Design Thumbprint's founder co-founded Bourbon for the Cause and has worked directly with distilleries and bourbon brands, so the strategy we build for your tasting room, your releases, and your bottle club comes from real experience rather than guesswork.

See where you actually rank, free

Enter your distillery or brewery and we will run a live local SEO audit: how you show up in the map pack when someone searches for a tasting room, where your listings are inconsistent, and what others nearby are doing that you are not.

No sales call required to get the result. If it turns up something worth fixing, we can talk about it then.

We'll only use your details to send the report.

Distillery marketing is its own world

Between allocation lists, tasting room bookings, distributor relationships, and a community that lives on Instagram and TikTok, marketing a distillery or brewery does not look like marketing most other local businesses. Generic social content and basic local SEO will not build the kind of following that turns into tasting room visits, bottle club members, and loyal regulars.

We build distillery marketing around how this industry actually works: driving discovery through local and destination search, building a social presence that captures the culture around your brand, and turning tastings and events into your best marketing tool instead of a one-off expense.

Distillery marketing services, start to finish

A full-service approach to getting your brand found, followed, and visited.

  • Local and destination SEO

SEO built around tasting room visits, tours, and destination search, so you show up for locals and for bourbon tourists planning a trip.

  • Social media and content

TikTok and Instagram strategy built by people who understand what actually gets bourbon and craft beer content shared, not generic posting calendars.

  • Tasting and event promotion

Campaigns built around releases, tastings, and tours that turn one-time visitors into repeat guests and bottle club members.

  • Brand development

A visual identity and voice that reflects your craft and story, whether you are a heritage distillery or a new name trying to stand out.

  • Website design

A site built to showcase your lineup, sell merchandise or bottle club memberships, and make booking a tasting simple.

  • Community and partnership strategy

Guidance on building the kind of engaged following and partner network that took Bourbon for the Cause from an idea to a real community, applied to your brand.

We're not learning bourbon on your dime

Design Thumbprint's founder co-founded Bourbon for the Cause, a bourbon media and enthusiast community that has driven charitable giving through bourbon-focused campaigns, and has worked directly with several other bourbon brands.

That means we already understand bottle releases, allocation drops, tasting events, and the community that drives this industry before we ever touch your marketing. You will not spend the first three months explaining why a barrel pick matters or what happens on a release day.

Why distilleries and breweries choose us

We are a boutique agency with genuine roots in the bourbon industry, not a generic marketing shop learning your world from scratch.

Questions distillers ask us

Most of these come up in the first ten minutes of a call, so here they are up front. If yours is not on the list, ask us directly.

How long before we see more visits and followers?

Local SEO is a build, not a switch. Most brands start seeing real movement in the first few months, and it compounds from there. Social can move faster, because a piece of content that lands reaches people the same week.

Destination search behaves differently from local. Someone planning a bourbon trip is researching weeks or months ahead, so that work pays off later but tends to bring higher-intent visitors when it does.

How do you handle age gating and alcohol advertising rules?

Carefully. Alcohol marketing carries constraints most industries do not have: age affirmation on the site, platform-specific ad targeting rules, no health claims, and content that keeps responsible-consumption messaging in view. Federal labeling and advertising rules sit on top of that, and your state has its own.

To be clear about the line: we are marketers, not your regulatory counsel. Your TTB and state obligations are yours, and anything we produce goes to you for review before it runs. What we commit to is building campaigns that do not create obvious exposure in the first place.

Can you help promote a specific release or drop?

Yes, and the timing matters more than most campaigns. A release needs the anticipation built before the day, not a post the morning of. We plan the runway, the day-of push, and the follow-up that turns the people who missed out into your list for next time.

Do you work with breweries, or only bourbon?

Both. The bourbon experience is the deepest, but the fundamentals carry: taproom and tasting room traffic, release cycles, event promotion, and a community that discovers you on social. If you are a brewery we will be upfront about which parts of our experience transfer directly and which parts we will be learning alongside you.

Can you help with our tasting room and tour bookings?

Yes. Destination search and a booking path that actually works on a phone are usually the two things standing between a visitor and a reservation. We build the visibility and remove the friction between finding you and booking a spot.

What about distributor and retail marketing?

Our focus is your direct presence: search, social, tasting room, events, and the community around your brand. Three-tier distribution has its own dynamics, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pretend we run distributor programs.

Who is actually doing the work?

The same people you meet on the first call. We are small enough that there is no pitch team and no handoff to someone you have never spoken to. That is a genuine constraint on how many of these we take at once, which is why we are picky about scope.

Do you work with brands outside Oklahoma?

Yes. We are based in Edmond, but this industry is national by nature and the bourbon community does not stop at a state line. The one thing that is state-specific is alcohol advertising law, and we will do that homework for wherever you operate.

We work with other industries too

Same approach, different playbook. Each of these has its own buying journey, its own search behavior, and its own definition of a good lead.
